00:23 - Rainbow Connection

it melted me. definitely advance-to-go to my song pick of the week!

a musical orgasm.

Rainbow connection

Why are there so many
Songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side
Rainbow's are visions
They're only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
So we've been told and some chose to
Believe it
But i know they're wrong wait and see

Someday we'll find it
The rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

Who said that every wish
Would be heard and answered
When wished on the morning star
Somebody thought of that
And someone believed it
And look what it's done so far
What's so amazing
That keeps us star gazing
What so we think we might see

Someday we'll find it
That rainbow connection
The lovers the dreamers and me

All of us under it's spell
We know that it's probably magic

Have you been half asleep
And have you heard voices
I've heard them calling my name
Are these the sweet sounds that called
The young sailors
I think they're one and the same
I've heard it too many times to ignore it
There's something that i'm supposed to be

Someday we'll find it
The rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me

00:02 - When the ground shook...

A powerful earthquake struck the Indonesian island of Sumatra around noon today, weighing a 6.3-magnitude quake. its effects reached our sunny shores and shook things up in our little island causing much excitment.

there wasn't much panic in the streets but actually because the office buildings were evacated, the streets looked much crowded than normal. also, there were many who also took this opportunity to take half-day off (thus the traffic jams). which i thought was weird. anyway, i had my very first experience of the temors- at first when it shook, i thought i was feeling giddy or having land-motion sickness- it had that effect. so i passed it off and continued my work, that is until my boss commented in the most assuring manner,"is that an earthquake?" it was then everybody who had thought they were working too hard at work (thus feeling giddy), realised with "oh ya hor". and before we know it, the PA system announced the situation and then we got evacated.

it wasn't any fun. if we were able to feel the temors here, I can imagine the size of the quake. and with it, the damage and toll it will have there. i feel for those involved and victims of the quake...

haiz. such is the power of nature.

23:23 - The directions I seek

Shortly after this post, i was rummaging through my room and tucked amongst my mountains of papers was this book by Ben Carson, titled, Gifted Hands- The Ben Carson Story. baby's dajie gave this book to me as a Christmas present last year but I hadn't the time to read it.

This book is a blessing. a timely answer to my previous post- Directions? what is my direction in life? Ben Carson tells of his inspiring odyssey from his childhood to his aspirations- to be a doctor. Nooo. don't get me wrong, my aspiration is not being a doctor. its more about his struggles in life and keeping up to achieve his aspiration. althought he was very determined, there were times he very wanted to give up as there seem to be no other way. he had ran out of "when there's a will there's a way". but through the grace of God, he miraculously tide over or found support in one way or another.

I wouldn't do an executive summary of this book however, i just want to say this book is highly motivating and spirituality uplifting. there were certain chapters that was so touching that i was on the verged of whelming up. this simple book with moral values and all the wholesome and heartwarming tidbits is highly recommended by me. its more than a 3-in-1...

oh. now comes the part where it relates to me. Simply by the first fact that this book reappeared when i need advice the most is amazing. the second fact is that this book truly answers my questions and also revitalize my faith (which is very weak). ok. so which directions should i go? as far as anything is concern, clearing my degree in the fastest possible time and achieving Distinctions should be my direction when referring to my education. work wise, I will achieve to learn everything and anything that i could ever muster and digest, and also keep an open but honest mind. so who do i want to be? definitely a man of God words and a man of my words. Baby place so much of her time and hope on me, and how i can ever let her down. Like they always say, the future is in your hands.

my aspiration? to be my own boss and have a brand of my own. ("35"? eh JF, LC?) but that’ll be for another post on another day.

For now, i'll leave you with a quote from the book and also with hope that you’ll read the book.

"You're your own man. You can accomplish anything that you want in the world."
